Ridgewood Needlepoint offers both informal and formal classes. Our informal classes are called "Stitch and Chat". At these sessions, you can bring a project to work on, or choose a new one from our extensive selection. We'll help you with stitches or tips.

National Teachers -Fall 2007
WE ARE SETTING UP NEW FORMAL CLASSES FOR 2008. We hope to post information soon.
Helen Haydon has been working on this lovely Hydrangea sampler by The Caron Collection. The piece will be taught once a month on Sundays from Thursday evenings from 10 am to 12 noon for four months.( Oct. 21, Nov. 18, Dec 9 and Jan. to be determined). The teaching fee will be $100 and the kit price is $65. Come in to see the model that Helen is working on. The class uses Watercolours and Impressions. One of the objectives is to learn to use the overdyes effectively. The picture below doesn't do it justice.
David McCaskill’s Background Sampler
WE ARE FORMING THE NEXT SECTION OF THIS VERY POPULAR CLASS. IT WILL BE TAUGHT ON MONDAY MORNINGS STARTING IN January FROM 10 AM TO 12 NOON and Tueday evenings from 7- 9 pm. It will meet every other week. IN ADDITION, WE ARE WILLING TO HAVE A Sunday Session if we have enough interest.
We have a completed sample in the store. Class size is limited to a maximum of 8 and a minimum of four people. The canvas is a line drawn canvas on 18 mesh. The design size is 9" by 9". A picture of the background sampler is below. The cost is $190. for the six classes and includes the line-drawn canvas and the threads. PLEASE COME TO THE STORE AND SELECT THE COLOR CANVAS YOU WANT.IT TAKES ABOUT FOUR WEEKS TO GET THE CANVAS IN SO COME QUICKLY. W
Vertical & Horizontal Laid Fillings - Join Eileen Aird as you learn the technique of laid stitches. This project looks very intricate but is actually suitable for beginners. The class will meet In October. Sessions will be held on two Tuesday evenings or a single day class on a Sunday or Monday. Please let us know when you are interested in coming. The last class was great fun! It's the perfect project to do for a gift for Christmas, graduations etc.
And it's quick. It will be from from 10am to 3 pm with a break for lunch on a Sunday or Monday. You will be able to choose your colors, too. When you are finished, you will have a canvas that can be framed or turned into a lovely pillow. The cost is $85. for the class and materials. We need a minimum of 4 stitchers for this class.
Heads Up- Eileen is working on several more classes. The two technique classes in the works are Diagonal Laid Filling and Beading on Canvas.
We are also planning on offering City Snow (known affectionately) as the Coat Ladies.This two day class is a two day class. It will be taught on two Sundays (probably a month apart) and two Monday mornings. Please let us know if you are interested. We will need to order these canvases, so please let us know if you are interested.

Stars - We are taking registrations for the next Stars Classes.The current class will be finished by March 2009 and is meeting on Sunday mornings from 9-12 once a month for a year. Once we have 5 or 6 more people interested we can start a new section. The price of the kit and book vary depending on the color chosen but are approximately $240. Classes will be $40 per class. Please let us know if you are interested so we can plan for the next section.

In-house Offerings-
Shadow Stitching -
This class on Shadow Stitching is be based on a beautifully shaded Circle of Hearts designed by Dede Ogden. It is a 4" diameter circle of hearts on an 8" x 8" 18 mesh canvas. The kits includes Dede's Shadow Stitching from "Amy Bunger's Celebrity Chefs". (This class kit includes chapter 4, the canvas, stretcher bars and the threads.) The kit costs $78.00. The class cost will be $70 for three classes.
We are taking sign ups for this class. It can be offered over two Monday mornings from 9 am to 12 noon, two Tuesday evenings of two Sunday afternoons. Another section can be held on two Sunday afternoons. Call us to register.
The second class will be an introduction to shadow stitching using a hand-painted canvas of grapes and leaves by Dede Ogden. The design is approximately 7" x 7" painted on a 10" x 10" 13 mesh mono canvas. You will need a copy of the book More Shadow Stitching by Dede Ogden. The kit cost with the book is $135. The class charge is $70 for three classes of two hours each. We will be scheduling this class for Tuesday evenings starting in May. We are also willing to offer a one day session on a Sunday or a Monday if there is interest. Please call to let us know your preference.

Rockerfeller Center Christmas Stocking -
This wonderful stocking lends itself to many different interpretations. (See the picture below).
Eileen Aird is teaching the Rockerfeller Christmas Tree stocking. The class is held every other month starting in September 2007. The stitch guide will be developed as we stitch so each participant's canvas will be slightly different.
Although this class is full, we have interest in a second section starting in May. Please call us if you are interested. We have had requests from some far-away stitchers. Please contact the store if you want to take the class as a cyberstudent!
