PETER SEWELL
It is with sadness I have to inform you that Peter Sewell has passed away last week following a short illness. He was only 74 years of age.
Many of you may not remember Peter however he held sales responsibilities at Holloway Road both for GED and PCD and was very much involved with the early development of CEL.
The funeral is next Tuesday in Chelmsford. I am trying at present to find out more details of the timing therefore if anyone wishes to attend please let me know and I will probably by that time have more information.
Kind Regards

ANGUS HILL
It is with considerable personal sadness that I write to inform you of the passing of a very dear friend.
Angus was admitted to hospital a few weeks ago after the discovery of cancer.
Many of you will know that Angus contracted cancer as a young man and had been free of the disease for many years.
I will miss his sharp whit, challenging questions and our endless debates about religion, politics and anything else we could argue about, our arguments were never acrimonious, just heated!
Angus’ wife Sue and his son Richard has informed me that his funeral will be next week, it will be attended by his large close family and Sue’s intention is to hold a memorial service for his extensive circle of friends and colleagues in about three months in Wendover, where they lived happily for many years before moving back to Scotland last year.
For anyone wishing to send condolence cards, Sue and Richard’s address is:
6 Drummond Avenue
Auchterarder
Perthshire
PH31NX
Scotland.
The World will be a far duller place without my old and dear friend Angus, I will miss him greatly

LUDGER BIEDENBENDER

Sorry to get in touch for such bad news, Ludger Biedenbender died last week, heart attack in Geneva. He was a Xfield photographer at the french office between 85 and 88/90 maybe (did you meet him?), then moved to Germany at Chromos and was at last working for EFI France in the South. Trumpet player, and a bloke who always had a joke in stock for you. I don't know if you should post that, he worked only in the french office, and most of us know by now, but since he was fluent in english and german of course, he may be well known in other countries, if you met him, you can't forget this guy. Bad times, he was only 2 years (or so) older than me...

ALAN ZELTINS
Some sad news for many Crosfield personnel - Alan Zeltins died from prostate cancer on 12th December this year. I saw him about a month before this and he did not look well. A letter, I received from his daughters, says that he deteriorated rapidly in the last few days. It was just over a year ago that he lost Billie (his wife) to the same disease.
I'm sure many people, from Hemel, Milton Keynes and Peterborough will remember him. I am sure many people would appreciate knowing.

RICHARD (DICK) STONE
It is with deep regret that I have to report the sad and untimely death of Richard (Dick) Stone. Dick worked for Crosfield Electronics, Ltd., GED International Service from 1971 to 1993, and I am sure many of you will remember him from this period as well as his later days at Centurfax. Dick died on Friday 30th September at his holiday home on the Isle of Wight. The funeral service will be held at All Saints Church, Ryde, Isle of Wight on Monday 21st October. I know this is very short notice for anybody to attend, but you are more than welcome if you can make it.

As many of you are no doubt aware one of Dick's main passions was birdwatching, so rather than flowers we are hoping to put a seat, hide or whatever in the new RSPB bird sanctuary in Brading Marshes on the island http://www.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/default.asp explains. If you would like to make a donation please send make payable to RSPB care of HV Taylor & Sons, Funeral Directors, Green Street, Ryde, Isle of Wight, UK with a note on the back Re:Dick Stone

I would like to hear from as many of you as possible before the funeral with any messages or anecdotes you may have about Dick. If you cant make it, and don't want to send an email, then I ask that you raise your glass in quite reflection to an old workmate, colleague and for many of us friend..

CHUCK LAIDLAW
It is with great personal sorrow that I bring you the sad news that Chuck Laidlaw left us on September 20th. The result of a tragic accident near his home town of Newcastle, Maine.

He traveled extensively for Crosfield including to the Regan, Gorbachev Summit in Reykjavik, Iceland and to the Olympics in Seoul Korea as well as Calgary Canada in support of Time and Newsweek magazine transmissions back to the US using the Crosfield equipment.
He is survived by his 5 children, Janice, Nancy, Lisa, Dina and his son CJ as well as many grandchildren. He will be sorely missed by all but most by Grace, his soul mate for the past 13 years.

ALF COATSWORTH
COATSWORTH, Alfred J. _ It is with great sorrow that we announce that Alfred J. Coatsworth, founder and President of Coatsworth Communications Inc., died Friday, April 13, 2001 after a long battle with cancer. Alfred was recognized as an industry leader in ''Desktop Publishing'', spending more than 30 years working with Canadian and International newspapers.

Alfred started his career as a chemist with Shell Oil but Muirhead/Crosfield came knocking in 1965 and he made the leap into what would be the new world of fax machines and desktop publishing. When he left Crosfield, he said that ''it took him five minutes to make up his mind what to do next'' and in August of 1993, CCI was born. The first order came from Thompson Newspapers, the first week in business and Alf never looked back. Alfred was known for his intelligence, droll wit and ever-cheerful disposition. CCI's motto, ''We're small enough to be big on personal service'' exemplifies Alf's attitude to customers and friends alike. He will be greatly missed.

FRED ORTH
Fred Orth he was the General Manager for Crosfield France in the early 80`s and left after 3 years for higher position outside the industries and he returned as a consultant in the industry at the beginning of 1994 and was then active until 1998 assisting many companies in the industry with management issues.
Sadly he passed away October last year after a long period of illness at a age of 70 years. Believe he would be remembered by many x-Crosfield staff in Europe who worked at Crosfield at the time.

COLIN ROCHE
For those of you who have not heard the bad news, Col. Roche (as he was better known) sadly passed away on the 24th November 2000 after being diagnosed with cancer 2 years ago.
Col's first connection with Crosfield was as a photographer installing and training scanner operators on both Australia and New Zealand in the late 60's early 70's before moving into scanner and system sales when the worked for Delairco, Crosfield's distributor for many years before becoming Crosfield ANZ.
He was well known to many ex-Crosfield people as he often attended training courses as well as accompanying may Australian and New Zealand customers to London for demonstrations as well as attending many of the major exhibitions both in Europe and the USA.
Col. will be sadly missed by many people around the world as he was a very likable character and good fun to be with at all times but most of all by his wife Iris and children Diane, Alan, Neil and Ian, as well as his three grand children Joshua, Olivia and Annellesa.
